A complete kitchen cabinetry build for a whole-Full Home Renovation North Vancouver on Bellevue Ave. The scope included floor-to-ceiling custom shaker-style cabinets in a two-tone painted finish warm white uppers with a deep slate-green island along with integrated pull-out pantry columns, concealed appliance garage panels, and solid white oak open shelving. Every cabinet box was built to account for the home’s original non-square walls. The result: a kitchen that looks architecturally designed because it was.

Edgemont Village

North Vancouver, BC

Rear extension on a corner-lot home in the Edgemont neighbourhood. The addition created an open-concept kitchen and family room with 10-foot ceilings, a gas fireplace, and a folding glass wall opening to the backyard. Project required a variance application through the District of North Vancouver handled entirely by Arani.

The design and material selection phase usually takes 2–3 weeks, fabrication in our shop takes 4–8 weeks, and installation takes 1–5 days depending on scope. Projects that are part of a larger renovation are sequenced within the overall build timeline. We provide a project schedule at the proposal stage and update you if anything changes during fabrication.

Do you design the millwork, or do I need to come with drawings?

You don’t need drawings that’s part of what we do. We offer a full design-build service: we assess your space, propose a layout and design direction, produce detailed shop drawings for your approval, and then fabricate and install the finished millwork. If you’re working with an architect or interior designer who has already produced drawings, we work from those directly. Many of our North Vancouver millwork projects are collaborative we take the designer’s intent and bring the technical execution.

Do I need a permit for custom millwork or built-in cabinetry?

In most cases, no standalone millwork and cabinetry does not require a building permit in North Vancouver. Permits are typically required when millwork is part of a larger renovation that involves structural changes, electrical work (e.g. under-cabinet lighting on a new circuit), or plumbing (e.g. a new sink location). When our millwork is part of a permitted kitchen renovation or home renovation, the cabinetry is included in the overall permit scope. We advise you on permit requirements at the consultation stage.

What wood species and finishes do you work with?

We work with the full range of materials commonly used in premium residential millwork: white oak, walnut, maple, and cherry in solid or veneer form; painted MDF with solid-wood door profiles; and high-quality thermofoil or laminate finishes for modern applications. Hardware comes from a curated selection of manufacturers we can source pulls, hinges, drawer systems, and inserts from brands like Blum, Häfele, and select design-forward hardware makers. We present samples at the material selection stage so you can see and touch the options before committing.

Can you add millwork to a home renovation already underway?

Yes — and it’s often the most efficient way to approach it. If you’re already renovating your kitchen or doing a home renovation through Arani Construction, your cabinetry is designed and sequenced as part of the overall project timeline. If you’re working with another general contractor and want to bring us in for millwork specifically, we can collaborate.
